Toon at Casbah 11/18

Had the opportunity to see local Durham rapper Toon tonight at the Casbah. According to this Clarion Content article, Toon is a Durham School of the Arts grad. All I can say is that this kid’s energy is off the chain. His raps are funny and clever, but also nostalgic (like the track where he raps about his mother), and his freestyling is impressive (he rattled off several smart rhymes guided only by some random words fans had written on a clipboard). He was a delight to photograph because his facial expressions were as varied as his rhymes. Check out some of my shots below (copyright BWPW Photo).
